An upcoming creation that will be developed in 2024 thanks to an invitation from the CAPRIART festival.
Garden Party is a textual and site-specific investigation into the writing and life of Truman Capote. Original music and sound effects frame this original destabiliizing work of art.
A veritable montage, Garden Party will mix new writing (spoken words), music composed by Marco Cappelli and others, and original texts by Truman Capote. The project will be performed by a team of excellent actors, among them Sean O’Callaghan and Paul Spera.
It’s also an opportunity to delve into a form of writing that changed the history of literature, giving rise to crime stories and genre stories. As a pioneer, we can see the impact of his writing when it comes to criticizing society.
In Capote’s case, it was an acerbic critique of bourgeois New York society in the 1960s, a society he found hypocritical and shaped by appearances.
Two of our ballads were born from this reflection : the ballad of hypocrisy and the ballad for Perry Smith.

Garden Party est une recherche textuelle et side specific sur l’écriture et la vie de Truman Capote. Véritable montage, Garden Party mélangera de nouvelles écritures (spoken words), des musiques composées entre les autres par Marco Cappelli,Phil St. George, Didier Leglise et des textes originaux de Truman Capote.
C’est aussi l’occasion de plonger dans une écriture qui a changé l’histoire de la littérature, faisant voir le jour aux crimestorys et aux histoires de genre. Pionnière, on se rend compte de l’impact de l’écriture lorsqu’il s’agit de critiquer la société.
Concernant Capote, ce sera une critique acerbe de la société bourgeoise newyorkaise des années 60, société qu’il trouve hypocrite et façonnée par les apparences.
De cette réflexion naitra deux de nos « ballads » : la ballad de l’hypocrisie et la ballad pour Perry Smith (protagoniste de In Cold Blood).
